You know what?
Something has to change.
You jump up and the ‘T’ sign you make with your hands effectively calls ‘time out’ on your own bullshit.
You stop scratching on the ground for excuses and instead sneak a look at the bigger picture. It seems so distant, such a high and lofty ideal. But you feel compelled; you must give it a shot.
There’s a naturally irresistible momentum that resides in the space between;
I can’t do this anymore!
Perhaps I could do that.
It’s as natural as the force and pull of a tide, and as brutal as the snap and repulsion of magnetism. It’s all yours to do with as you wish.
I hope you would choose to fly.
Your take-off depends entirely on your outlook so be sure to choose well. Remind yourself it’s your attitude that shapes this experience as exhilarating or terrifying, not the actual event. As you leave the ground, take comfort that your power dwells inside your choices; they alone determine whether you will make it to your destination safely. As you rise higher you become acutely aware there’s nothing to hang on to. The sense of panic you feel is nowhere near as dangerous as the belief that because you can still see the ground it must be a safe leap back into the arms of the familiar.
Just when you’re intently watching the ground and deciding whether to jump, the blinding shock of the clouds arrive. With no sense of direction you are lost, pummelled by uncertainty and bounced around by regret. There’s no way back and no way of knowing what is ahead.
“See I told you.”
“Let me help you, I knew you couldn’t do it.”
Although it feels like there is no end in sight, resist the urge to be rescued.
For once be your own hero.
Without warning brightness stuns your eyes and you blink steadily while they adjust.
Above the clouds there is only incredible beauty, stillness, and peace. Take a look around you; there are no limits. If you glance down to the clouds you don’t see their hidden turmoil and the ground is beyond your vision or your care.
You made it through.
Are you on the ground looking up?
Glancing wistfully back at the ground?
Are you bouncing around inside the clouds, unsure of what the hell it is you’re actually trying to do?
Please, close your eyes and remember what life is like above the clouds.
Don’t ever doubt it.
You’ve been on this journey before, and it’s always been there waiting for you.
